Once you have made the decision to move forward with body contouring, you will need to choose the procedure you would like to use to reach your body sculpting goals. And so, you’d also be required to restock your wardrobe with new sizes that fit you, especially when it takes not much effort to explore designer lingerie and other types of clothes that your wardrobe would be in a dearth of. And fortunately for many patients, non-surgical procedures can often provide all the contouring they need without incisions, anesthesia or downtime. Two of the most popular methods of non-surgical body contouring today are CoolSculpting and SculpSure. Which one is right for you?
CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling, known as cryolipolysis, to freeze and destroy fat cells. The treated cells are eliminated by the body over time to create a smoother, sleeker body profile. SculpSure also destroys unwanted fat cells, but this device uses laser energy to do the job. Laser energy heats the fat cells to a temperature that destroys them so they can also be eliminated by the body. Both types of technology offer dramatic, gradual results over time.
CoolSculpting and SculpSure are both designed to reduce fat in the following areas:
In addition, a smaller applicator recently introduced for CoolSculpting allows this device to be used for smaller areas like the upper arms and under the chin. SculpSure can also treat smaller areas and also those with less fat to remove – unlike CoolSculpting which requires a certain amount of fat to be able to fit into the suction applicator for effective treatment.
A CoolSculpting treatment takes 50-60 minutes to complete. The applicators are only able to address one treatment area at a time, so if you want contouring in multiple areas, you will need to multiply that time by the number of areas to be addressed. SculpSure treatments take just 25 minutes to complete. There are four different applicator heads, which allow for multiple treatment areas in a single session.
While neither treatment requires any downtime afterward, some patients have reported pain and numbness after a CoolSculpting treatment. These patients sometime require pain medication for a number of days after the procedure. Patients rarely report any discomfort after a SculpSure procedure. In fact, there are no activity restrictions after this procedure, allowing patients to immediately return to their daily routines with barely any interruption.
CoolSculpting patients often need to schedule two or more treatment sessions to achieve their full results. This can delay the onset of those results by a couple of months or more. Once the results are achieved, they should be permanent since fat cells are completely eliminated. However, if the patient does not adhere to a healthy diet and exercise program, remaining fat cells can enlarge and significantly alter your results.
SculpSure is designed to achieve final results after a single, 25-minute treatment session. A few patients may opt to have a second procedure six weeks after the first, but this is much rarer after SculpSure than after CoolSculpting. Once the results are evident, they are permanent as long as a healthy weight is maintained after the treatment.
When CoolSculpting was first introduced, it quickly gained popularity as the best non-surgical method of body contouring available. However, the addition of SculpSure has taken non-invasive body sculpting to the next level, with shorter treatment times and faster results in many cases than what patients have experienced with CoolSculpting. At Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center, we have opted to offer SculpSure to our patients due to the more comfortable treatment experience and superior results.
